OTA Awards its Industry Scholarship

The Ozark Turf Association has awarded its 2026–27 OTA Industry Scholarship to Mackenzie Camp of Billings, Missouri. Since joining the maintenance crew at Hidden Valley Golf Links in Clever, Missouri, in May 2023, Mackenzie has become proficient in a wide range of golf course maintenance duties, including mowing greens, tees, and roughs; rolling greens; raking bunkers; laying sod; and cleaning up after storms. She is a dependable team member who continues to develop strong leadership skills.

Mackenzie developed many of these qualities during her four years on the varsity basketball team at Clever High School. When injured teammates left a leadership gap during her senior season, she stepped up to guide the young team with consistent encouragement, accountability, and support.

Mackenzie has demonstrated a strong work ethic by successfully completing dual-credit coursework during her junior and senior years in high school. She works independently, manages her time effectively, and meets the demands of rigorous college-level classes—qualities that will support her goal of becoming a golf course superintendent. These experiences also reflect her initiative, professionalism, and commitment to serving others. She has the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to succeed in her future endeavors.

Mackenzie finished her high school career with a 3.5 GPA, and began her freshman year at Ozarks Technical Community College. She entered college with dual-credit coursework completed at Clever High School, where she earned a 3.4 GPA.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Sarah and Adam Camp. Her father, Adam, is the golf course superintendent at Hidden Valley Golf Links and a longtime member of the Ozark Turf Association.

The OTA Industry Scholarship supports golf course employees pursuing careers in golf course maintenance at OTA-member facilities. The $3,000 award is distributed in two $1,500 semester payments.
